Lyman Bostock

from Nine Rays Of Moonshine by Tadpoles

/

about

Track/Ray #3 , Lyman Bostock, from the upcoming compilation Tadpoles - Nine Rays of Moonshine, with Nick Kramer on vocals. This one, written by Nick and David Max appeared on the group’s last studio album, Whirlaway, released by Australia’s Camera Obscura Records in 1999. The title has nothing to do with the tragic Major League Baseball player. When we were writing and recording jams in our Hoboken, NJ rehearsal studio in that era, we would need temporary names to identify the jams for later development or not. Nick and I were particularly well-versed in remembering the names of every pro baseball player of the mid to late 70’s and would often just shout them out during rehearsals for the other to counter. So, some of these names ended up as “holding names” for the jams. Lyman Bostock was one that stuck for the final song title. ~ TP

lyrics

Begging with a borrowed hand again
Burning bridges, swimming rivers
Building and breaking and fixing things
You can never run from the devils in you

But you can beat a path to my door
When the running gets the better of you
Rest yourself a while, sit a spell
And you know that tomorrow is a new day

It's all in how you harvest me
It's all in how you harvest me
It's all in how you harvest me
It's up to you, how you harvest me

Betting on a borrowed hand again
Desert sands in your barren palm
Your rivers dried out into the seas
Brother, don't you curse my name
I haven't made peace with parts of my past
Or with those ghosts with halos round their eyes
And you hope that tomorrow is a new day

It's all in how you harvest me
It's all in how you harvest me
It's all in how you harvest me
It's up to you, how you harvest me

It's all in how you harvest me
It's all in how you harvest me
It's all in how you harvest me
It's up to you, how you harvest me
