Race You To The Mustard Patch

about

Track / Ray 7 is Race You To The Mustard Patch, the opening track on 1996’s Far Out. After the original 5-piece band fell apart, as all good bands must do, I reconfigured with David and Nick remaining. Although we had no drummer, we carried on and a few friends and associates picked up the pieces and filled in at the studio and live. ‘Mustard Patch features Edley Odowd (Toilet Boys/Psychic TV) on drums and was the first song we completed for the new album, setting the tone. If you listen closely to the whole song, you’ll hear Syd Barrett making an appearance before the ending race/frenzy begins.

lyrics

Drop down and see it fall away

Climb up catch what they say

Drop down and be there fall away

Get up race you to the day

The only way

Get a little closer to the tone

Vibrate for everyone you know

When you stop you've never been away

Get up race you to the day

The only way
