about

The original mix of Jaded Jean appears on Tadpoles, Smoke Ghost, album, released in 1998 on Bakery Records. Smoke Ghost was produced by Kramer (Shimmy Disc / Bongwater) at his Noise New Jersey studio and received critical acclaim upon its release.

In 2012, "For Lee Jackson In Space" was released as a digital download only album exclusively on Bandcamp. Proceeds from this album, which is still available, are donated to the ALS Association, Texas Chapter in the name of Lee Jackson, a Texan writer and cultural enthusiast, famed for his co-creedation of the noted Broken Face fanzine with Swedish writer Mats Gustafsson.

Lee interviewed the Tadpoles for the Broken Face in 1999 and reviewed a number of Tadpoles albums, always enthusiastically. For the 20th anniversary of Smoke Ghost, we are releasing as a digital single "Jaded Jean (For Lee Jackson In Space Mix)" in honor of both the Smoke Ghost album and of Lee. We encourage you to seek out the full 94 song collection "For Lee Jackson In Space" on Bandcamp!

If you could see like jaded jean

You wouldn't have a need for dreams

Like jaded jean in her jaded scene

She's planting seeds

A garden queen

You can find her at home almost every night

Writing letters on sheets of white

Or jade green

From her garden stream

She's consciously falling asleep

Jaded jean
Would you believe

Her father's at home

Watching the clocks

While mommy's alone

And would you believe

In all of these things

If you could see

Like jaded jean

If you could work out everything

And fill the holes the ashes bring

You wouldn't have a need for dreams

Like jaded jean

In her jaded scene

The stories come before she falls asleep

She draws the people she wants to meet

They live in houses filled with schemes

The sun rises up

And floods her streams

Would you believe

Her father's at home

Watching the clocks

While mommy's alone

And would you believe

In all of these things

If you could see

Like jaded jean

If you could be like jaded jean

You wouldn't have a need for dream
